Day 5

On day 5, I didn't go with my dad, I went with my Grandma. So much fun, first once we got there, there was a long line the people in front of us, were adopting a boxer! It was really cute, and the people behind them lost their dog, but, then they got a phone call and it was one of their friends saying they found there dog. After all that, we finally got to check in and went on our way! We went straight to the dog my dad and I saw last week (the one G-ma should get) and took him out and oh, did grandma love that dog! After him, we went to go look at all the dogs and came back to a white American Eskimo Dog, so fluffy! But, it was wild and crazy, I'll tell you "Where the Wild Things Are", they are at that shelter! I don't remember any other dogs we walked and we couldn't really see any of the cats except for 3! They were all (except for 3) were sick! Sad. After that, we went to go vote for my ginger bread shelter! YAY! I hope I win! Can't wait to go back and hear the results!

Ginger Bread Shelter

For school, we have a lot of fundraisers, I don't really get to excited for them, but, this one I did. This one you could get a chance to win $1000 scholarship! So, of course, I just had to participate, so I did and you guys probably don't know this but I have a love for animals. So for my gingerbread house, it had to be COMPLETELY edible, so I made an animal shelter, here take a look. View albumView album
Pretty good, right, so the next day I took it to school and my principal was pretty shocked! I didn't know why because this fundraiser was worth $1000 dollars! I took it in and he said "of WOW is this for the contest?" and he took it and put it on a lunch table because there was no table for the houses! So, then he took it to the office. During the school day I told all my friends to vote for my ginger bread house, at lunch. When it got to lunch time, I asked my principal how we would vote and he said I was the only one, so I won. When I got home, I ran downstairs and told my mom! Now the school will take my shelter to Kennedy's Jewelers, and on Saturday the public will put donations next to their favorite gingerbread house and the house with the most money gets $1000 scholarship! So please, please, please, please vote for my ginger bread house and then I will win, thanks!

Day 4

Today was day 4! Already day 4, wow I can't wait tell it's like 100 days! OMG, I'm getting jitters just thinking about it! Ok, well today, my dad and I, walked 4 (4 dogs on the 4th day, cool) dogs! The first one was a big, lovable Boxer,he got excited when he got outside, not as much as Billy Ray on day 2 I think (Billy Ray was still there)? Oh well, but then after that dog we walked a big,  pretty, wild Australian Shepherd! So cute, I love that dog, but, it kept trying to pull off my arm. The third dog was a F-A-T FAT Labrador Retriever it was so fat and such a slow walker! And it was so shy, I got him to come over to me, but then my dad tried to pet him and he like jumped away! He was so sweet, and so cautious! I loved him! The last dog we walked was a cute Carin Terrier/Mix, so super cute and cautious, like the last one. I loved that dog and my grandma was looking for a dog so I hope I can talk her into it (Grandma if your reading this you need this dog)!
After walking 4 dogs on the 4th day! We went to go look at the cats, but, right as we got in there, a worker came in and told us that we couldn't see the cats because they were all sick. I guess one or two of the cats had a disease and then all of them (except four) got it! So after that my dad went to go wash his hands well I got us checked out. Then we went to get Mr.Goodcents (even though Subway was closer and the same price *wink wink* daddy!). Can't wait tell the 100th day!

Day 3

For our 3rd volunteer day we worked 1.5 hours! We walked 5 dogs and played with ALL the cats! It was so much fun let me tell you a little about it.First, when we got there we couldn't start working yet so we just played with the cats they were all so cute, when I was putting two little baby kittens up (SO CUTE!), a worker there told me I should play with this one kitten because it needs to socialize. So, I got it out and went in a closed off room. I set it down and it ran under the chair and hid in the corner! I couldn't get it out so I grabbed a cat toy and tried to pull him out. No luck. But, it did run to the other corner so I could climb under and grab him. I did not let him down again! But, I put him in my lap and started petting him, HE STARTED TO PURR! Yay!
Next, we went to walk 5 dogs! The first one, was an available for adoption, wild, blue eyed, Siberian Husky. He almost pulled off my arm, but so beautiful and lovable! The 2nd dog we walked was a beautiful, multi colored, mutt-like dog.He was a sort of good walker, he kind of wanted to chase after all the birds. Ahh! I had to run so super fast! The 3rd dog was a......I don't really know what it was, but, it sure was pretty! It had slender
hips so I think it could run REALLY fast, if it wasn't on a leash. But, it had patches of different colors on his fur. The 4th and 5th dogs were both Labradors, but they were complete opposites! The first was calm, the 2nd almost pulled my arm off! The first walked right next to me, the 2nd walked WAY in front of me, and was choking itself and so on.
For the last 20 - 40 minutes, we went back to lovable, adorable, and cuddly kitty cats. Of course I went to my kitty, the little efficient one because I couldn't stay away from him! I stayed with him for about 15 minutes and then went to ALL the other cats and gave them there own time. Then it was time to go, and we picked up Sonic on the way home and I felt a lot better for helping the animals.

In loving memory: Ginger

As you may know I have a love for animals, this is not a shelter story, this is my life. I have 2 hamsters named Ginger and Cinnamon. Last night I was cleaning the hamsters cage because today we were suppose to take Ginger to the vet. We were going to do this because she had a bald spot on her back and was kind of a little bit skinnier than suppose to be. But, she was in her little plastic ball not moving, but still alive. And after I finished, I put her and her sister back in the cage, and then went to bed. The next morning, my mom came to wake me up as usual, but, then my mom went to see the hamsters. She saw Cinnamon immediately, but, strangely enough she couldn't find Ginger. So she went to go turn on the light, and I knelled down to look for her I took out their playhouse and started digging and found her. :( Dead, there she lay, dead. I started to cry, then, my mom pulled her out and said "No, she's not dead, she's twitching!" but that was just her petting Ginger. Next thing I knew, Ginger was in a box I was in the car with tears and my binder waiting for mommy to take me to school. When I got home after a long, miserable day. My mom sat me down and said "You want to hear a wild story?" I shrugged, and she began. " when I got home after taking you to school, I don't know why, but, I checked on Ginger. And.....she twitched her little leg. I thought she was still alive so I took her downstairs and put a newspaper over her, because she doesn't like the sunlight. I called the vet made an appointment even sooner. Drove down there. But, the vet said she wasn't sick, it was just her time to go. So I took her home and she died shortly after." I began to cry, but I felt better that she told me that. Later that evening, we buried her peacefully. And now she has a good life up there, where she can have whatever she wants, whenever she wants. God bless and love you, Ginger.

Day 2

On our 2nd volunteer day, we walked 4 dogs! The 1st one was a big black dog, very playful and nice, he loved belly scratched. Also, he was very sweet. The 2nd dog was wild WILD! It was like our very 2nd dog the one that almost dislocated my shoulder. But, this one loved to have fun! The 3rd dog was a sweet and shy dog, but once she got to know you she was........let's see........how would I say this......let's say lovable-wild, but not to wild. Does that make sense? Oh, well the last dog we walked was a jumpy dog, his name was Billy Ray, and when he got excited, he got EXCITED! He would jump at least 2 feet in the air and when he landed he would run around in circles, puling all over the place. When we put him away, a lady and two boys asked us if we were "dog walkers" and asked if they could take the Maltese, daddy thought was a Morkie (Maltese and Yorkie), out on the leash. We showed her how to do it and daddy went out with them while I went to go get to puppies. The 2 boys were gone so I got the 2 girls (later we met the people who took the boys out and they said the shelter found them in a box on the street without anyone there). They were little German Shepherds one regular color, and one brown. So super cute, but when I went in the cage to get them the door closed and I was stuck in there (no lies)! I have no idea what I would have done if daddy didn't come to the rescue! When we got outside the puppies brothers were there playing, so, we let them play together. But then, the animal shelter worker (not a volunteer) told us that the people for community service were coming in so we could go take the puppies to the outdoor fenced play area and let them off their leashes. We did, and they started playing tug-o-war with the leashes so I went in to get some toys. While I got the toys daddy had to get A LOT of poop bags, because they each pooped at least twice! After that we had to be done because the worker took our passes so we couldn't get in to the cat room. I can't wait to go back next Saturday!

Day 1

We (my dad and I) went there just to turn in the volunteer sheet but, the lady at the front desk asked us if we wanted to do some work today. So, we did , we walked 3 dogs, about 10 minutes each. The first one was so cute, it was a 2 year old poodle mix, it didn't make a sound. Also, right as we got outside, it peed, so it was a good, potty-trained, silent dog. Later, I found out my friend went their with his dad and decided to get that do. YAY! The next do we walked was a 1 year old mutt, pretty dog! But, when we took him outside it was like a girl on one side of the mall and a giant shoe sale on the other side. Dang! That dog pulled fast! After I walked him I thought my shoulder was dislocated. Guess he'll just have to learn! Third dig, easy to describe, beautiful, 3 3 year old, tan husky. Diamonds for eyes, walked calmly right next to me! VERY calm! Love that dog! Later, we started petting cats all meowing at us to pet them. Pretty much all were whining "pet me, pet me!" Daddy got stuck on one cat who I like to call "spoiled!" I gave each cat their own special petting time. Then, we met this girl who was doing community work. Daddy said that meant she got into trouble, but she wasn't a bad person. She was really nice, and helpful. After that we turned in our pass, signed out, and took a sigh of relief. It really made me feel better for helping out. And now, I can't wait to go back.
